The owl and the pussy cat at Charlecote Park

What was/is your favourite children’s story? Do you still read it to your children? One of those traditional stories that is much loved amongst our team here is ‘The Owl and The Pussycat‘ poem by Edward Lear.

You may well know that we have two cats who live at Charlecote – Jasper and Dodo. We also have owls in the park. So without further ado, let us introduce to you our very own owl and pussycat…

Our thanks to Jana for taking these beautiful images.

Coincidentally, a few years ago, as part of our winter ‘Art in the Park‘ programme we had work on display from installation artist, Alfreda McHale. One of her pieces was called ‘Runcible‘. This itself is a nod to Edward Lear’s poem… The piece was a display of discarded cutlery arranged in a flower border. It was a light-hearted and fun piece that generated lots of discussion.
