A new 20-part series starts on ITV this Sunday, following the staff and volunteers behind six of our special National Trust places. Charlecote does not feature in this series but quite a variety of other sites are. They include Cragside in Northumberland (one of my personal favorites! – Ruth), the Farne Islands, Lake District, Wimpole (where our Catering Manager, Daryl, used to work!), Wordsworth House (where our property manager, Stephen, once worked!) and Sizergh.
Starting this Sunday, 6 October at 12.25pm on ITV, familiar TV-face Michael Buerk rediscovers some of Britain’s best loved landscapes and homes. He will uncover hidden secrets and meet the people behind the scenes of the National Trust in a this 20 part series.
The series turns the viewer into a visitor. In each episode Michael will be trying his hand at a new skill including scything, lambing, Georgian cooking, life as a man-servant, and bird counting. He works alongside Trust staff and volunteers as they make sure that everything is cared for and welcoming for visitors.
We’ll be watching closely as we could always do with extra help during our own lambing period! If he’s good at counting too, we’ll definitely be signing him up as a volunteer in the park as we often have to count our deer which can be difficult.
You can find out more on our website here or, of course, tune in on Sunday’s at 12.25pm!
