NGS Open Garden: Wellesbourne Allotments

If you’re planning to visit us this Sunday why not also pop along to Wellesbourne allotments?

Between 2pm and 5pm the allotments are open to visitors as part of the National Garden Scheme. You may recall we celebrated our own links to the NGS last ‘summer’ when the lovely Dame Judi Dench joined our garden party!

SNGS.jpgome of our volunteers live in Wellesbourne and have allotments so you are likely to bump into a few of them. There will be a whole host of activities taking place including:

  • Scarecrow competition
  • Beekeeping display
  • Children’s quiz
  • Warwickshire County Youth Jazz Orchestra

Plus plants and produce for sale.

It is £3 to visit with children admitted free of charge. Money raised goes to the NGS who support many charities including nursing, caring and gardening charities. They have shared more than £25 million in the last 15 years. Some of these funds have come to the National Trust and have supported bursaries for trainee heritage gardeners.

Oh and if you need any more persuasion to visit, here’s a lovely blog post from a local gardener about the event last year… < Gardening Ways >
