Spring in the garden

After a very long and difficult winter it finally feels like spring has arrived at Charlecote.

It’s lovely to see some much colour starting to appear around the garden in pots and the borders. Our Parterre is now in full flower with a lovely display of tulips and spring bedding and the newly restored Woodland Garden is full of Daffodils and   Hellebours.

The garden team have also been busy sprucing up the garden by painting all of the old metal benches and tables, cleaning and teak oiling the wooden benches, repairing edges, weeding and re-gravelling paths and planting and staking in the borders. Our newly extended nursery is also full to bursting with thousands of new plants for the borders – I’ve a feeling that it’s going to be a very colourful year in the garden!

Our gardeners have been helping prepare for the local village plant sale too! (Hampton Lucy, 15 May!)

It definitely feels like spring in the park as we celebrate a fantastic month of lambing with 128 new additions to the park (including 8 sets of triplets!). Be sure to check out the film clips of them on our YouTube page.

The parkland is being transformed as we work our way through a number of different restoration projects. We are over half way through replacing 800 meters of the damaged or collapsed oak paling fencing, our 10 new oak benches are now all out in the park and being well used, the final phase of the Ha-ha restoration is being completed, the flood damaged deer fencing has been fully repaired and our 40 newly planted trees are all doing well.

Why not come along to see our new projects and celebrate spring with us!
