Are you excited? Christmas is only a month away and we can’t wait! It is always such a magical time of year and Charlecote has quite a magical feel to it…
Father Christmas has been eagerly awaiting his return to the park. He tells us this is one of his favourite places to visit – his reindeer like to catch up with our own fallow deer whilst Father C is busy talking to all the visitors and finding out what their festive wishes are. Our office elves have been coordinating with Mums and Dads, Grans and Grandads (as well as the big guy himself) to take bookings on the days he will be here. You can find out more about these events on our website.
We make sure that Father C is comfy in the Gatehouse although we have to try and keep him away from the shop opposite his room which is filled with seasonal tasty goods!
It won’t be long until our Christmas trees arrive – they should be here on Monday! Indeed our House Elves and helpers will be busy through this week getting the decorations out of boxes and back up in the Great Hall. If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you will know that the house is a little bit upside down at the moment due to the electrical rewiring work that is taking place. Well, we’re not going to let that spoil our fun and although it will undoubtedly be a bit different to normal, Christmas will be going ahead!
We won’t have the Dining Room open as it is moonlighting as a storage hold for many, many boxes whilst the electricians are working in other areas. The Great Hall will be festively decked out and we will have access to the billiard and drawing room. Music will be played out in the Green Court and craft activities in our Education Room are open to all – no need to book for those just, turn up and join in!
Shopping with a difference…
Our gift shop is filled with some lovely Christmas treats and present ideas so you’ll be sure to find something to pop in stockings for loved ones. The gatehouse shop is also open on weekends. This shop is where we sell our Charlecote Park venison, flour from the Mill in the village, local ales and wines, jewellery and other tempting yummy items!
Our main gift shop is found just beyond the Victorian Kitchen so you’ll be able to see whats cooking with our costumed guides. In recent weeks the cooks have been making sugar mice with our visitors. Here is a lovely photo of Seb, Luca, Isobel and William who visited last weekend…
Will we see you here for Christmas at Charlecote? We hope so!
