Becoming a (Victorian) Costumed Guide

Want to do something a little different with your day? Like people, history and getting hands on? We may have the volunteer role for you…

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to join our growing team of costumed guides at Charlecote Park.

We currently have a number of volunteers who help us in our Victorian Kitchen by donning a costume and cooking up a storm! This has been greatly enjoyed by our visitors (and the volunteers too!) and we’re looking to expand this into our outbuildings which consist of a brew house, laundry, carriage house and tack room.

This is a brand new area of interpretation for us. Currently we do very little in these outbuildings but would love to do more! This is a chance for you to help shape this role and really develop our interpretation.

Download the role profile and if it sounds like something you’d enjoy why not complete the enquiry form and sent it to us in the post or straight to our inbox Someone will then be in touch with you to chat about it further!

This is what Pat (aka Mrs Horton the cook) says about her volunteer role …
“I just love coming into the kitchen in my cook’s costume, I feel I have stepped back in time. I like to think that the Victorian cook here, Mrs Mary Horton, would be pleased with my attempts. Volunteering at Charlecote has enriched my life and enabled me to meet such an interesting cross-section of visitors.”

We are so grateful for all the volunteer support we have across the property. There are other volunteer roles coming up soon so do keep checking back here. There are some lovely volunteer stories on our website.

If we’re a little too far away from where you are, why not check for volunteer vacancies local to you?
