If you’ve been to Charlecote this winter, you’ll have noticed the scaffolding that has been surrounding the stables. We’ve had a team of specialist builders on site working to stabalise the building and repair the roof. The work is now complete and we’re thrilled to be able to get all of our books out of storage and get our second hand bookshop up and running again!
We have 2 second handbookshops on site here at Charlecote. The largest one is in the stables where we have lots of lots of shelves full of books that have been donated to us. We have a small team of volunteers who sort through these donations, price them and put them out for sale. They do such a great job and quietly go on with their work. What is so wonderful about this set up is the large amounts of money they raise for the National Trust. All of the money we raise is put towards the vital conservation work – such as the stabalisation of the stables!
Our House Elves and bookshop volunteers have spent the past 2 days unloading boxes of books and getting the shelving cleaned and ready for opening. Do pop in the next time you’re here, there is always a great range of books at a great price too!
Did you know…?
We are always accepting donations of books! If you have any you wish to pass on to us, just drop them in to our Visitor Reception Building in the car park. There is someone there everyday from 10.30am – 5pm. Or give us a call on 01789 470 277.
